Tantalising...

I would definately like to see a part two, this is great stuff. The artwork is terrific, and together with the eerie music it creates an eerie atmosphere. I was really quite scared watching this, and it kinda reminded me of old movies like Zombie Flesh Eaters and other video nasties.

Excellent! :)

Great start!

Tis' a little bit laggy in places though, like you said. Fixing that is a question of what you want to lose in terms of details. There was alot going on in the backgrounds, just like the scene in the actual movie, but it will cause lag in a web flash. I find it's best to use .png pics for any background stills rather than symbols or stage work in flash.

Also, it's best to "stream" your music rather than the event/start options, but remember you can't stream across different scenes.
Go to the newgrounds forums, click on the big forums button at the top of the page and do a search on "streaming music".

This flash was still awesome :)

I think this is beautiful...

...a truly unique style, as far as I've seen anyway, kinda reminds me a little bit of Tim Burton movies but better. I love that paper texture you've given everthing and the lighting and shadow effects add that touch of class.

Music trickles along nicely as the sweet but sad story unfolds. Definately a fave for me, if that's okay with you. Thanks, and well done :)

This was great...

...I like this style, you know your way around the effects department pretty well too. Nice mix of effects and transitions, it all moves along at a sweet pace and the song (although not my bag) really suits the flash... did you create to the song? or add the song after the creation? Just wondering.

Haroshi responds:

Well while listening to the song It congured up images of someone walking amelessly through the desert.

I was either going to use 'Lonely day' by system of a down or this song in the end, both gave me the same feeling.

That was so cool!

Really nice flash, great visual jokes to match the song and heaps of quirky on screen imagination.

I read your author comments and I feel exactly the same way you do about flash music videos. I prefer to work with music being the basis of my project. Like you said it's a good way to get started on an assignment, but I must say, I don't think that makes us any less creative.

4 from me!

PS, maybe you should work on a Special Edition to release around the festive period. I think people would lap this up more around that time.

BellClock responds:

Thanks a lot for your kind review. I didnt mean "less creative" I guess, "less imaginative" might be better. I dont see me writing a song and then animating it and I also find it pretty hard sometimes to write a proper script. (Also I'm lazy, so if I have decent writing sometimes I dont use it =)).

Cheers

Truly awesome...

...from the best animator on NG. Full Stop. Peroid. No contest.

Animation is so smooth in some places, I'll have to wait for the drool (thats fallen into my keyboard) to dry after I write this review.

I've read books where you explain how you achieve certain effects and I was wondering... could you explain that ground/horizon/speed effect in your next interview/tutorial. It was soooo smooth!

tremendous.
